On March 15, the famous day of the Hungarian Revolution and Freedom Fight of 1848-49, on the occasion of our national holiday, the Hungarian Cultural Institute Delhi held a commemoration at the Nicholson Cemetery at the monumental white marble obelisk of the tomb of the Hungarian Imre Schwaiger, died in Delhi in the 1st half of the last century. The event was attended by Indian university students studying Hungarian language. After the speech of Pál Bódogh-Szabó, director of the institute, together with dr. Margit Köves, visiting lecturer at the University of Delhi, a wreath and bouquet of flowers were placed. The students studying Hungarian language then took turns reciting a verse of Sándor Petőfi's "National Song". The aim of this kind of gathering, which was held for the first time on the national holiday, is to create a tradition and a common meeting point in the romantic, old English cemetery for the purpose of Hungarian national commemorations.
